A dull, old-fashioned tax inspector, Stephen, finds a mysterious briefcase on his doorstep, with the combination lock set to 999 and a card attached, upon which is written: “THIS CASE IS MINE”. The case seems to have a will of its own; it remains inexplicably undamaged despite forceful attempts to open it and the dials of the lock keep changing back to 999. As Stephen’s obsession with the case and its unattainable content grow, he is pursued and attacked by ‘threats’ who all trance-like insist that “This case is mine”. As Stephen struggles to retain the case, he is unaware that the seductive, devilish case has its own malicious agenda with far stretching consequences for all its admirers.
